This week's big project is a Soviet God of War battery. I honestly didn't think Soviets would be on my painting table this year, but I've had the desire to play Soviets. I don't know what it is specifically that puts me in a Soviet playin' mood, but I've been wanting to get some eastern front games in lately. So I had a look at my collection and I realized that I need support platoons in a bad way. My current Soviet miniatures include (excluding various tanks):

I had a few things I wanted to try out. The first was armored infantry, based on my recent desire to run a half-track army. I also wanted some Panzer IIIJ lates, some anti-tank guns (PaK40s), a heavy platoon, some armored cars, and some nebelwerfers. This army had no real point to it other than to experiment with is components and see how they jelled together. As I don't have any DAK painted yet, I had to use my Late-war Germans as fillers for this battle.

Despite the fact that I've sworn off playing Americans after sort of OD'ing on them over the holidays, I've been batting an idea around in my head for a Late-war 1750-point US force. It just so happens Normandy has been on my mind lately (for some reason!). So I thought it would be fun to explore the US infantry/tank teams that made up the bocage-busting task forces in Normandy.
